Bangalore is just not about the gardens and the IT

    AS we come across the word ‘Bangalore ‘one can always relate to it as the Garden city or the I.T capital of India. But it’s just not about the gardens and the Electronic city (I.T Park), the city has an interesting history surrounding it as well.

    In 1573 Kemepe Gowda, built the city of Bangalore. He shifted the capital of Yelahanka to Bangalore in the bid of building a well planned city; this will have a fort, a cantonment, tanks (water reservoirs) and temples. The avenue road, one of the busiest in Bangalore, was carved by Kempe Gowda himself with a help of bullock cart. He believed that this part of the city would be ideal of different kinds of trade and business, and would also serve as the rendezvous point to the people coming from various parts of the state.

    The word Bangalore itself has some interesting history behind it. It is believed that, Bangalore was also known as Bangalooru during those days. The word Bangalooru originally is a Kannada term, when translated in English which means “The town of boiled beans”. This name was give by Veera Bhalla (the2nd), in 1120.However there have been debates on its existence, and some historians claim that the name already existed prior to the given dates of the occurrence, in the Gazetteer of India.

    Kannada is the local language, which is vastly spoken all over Bangalore & Karnataka. You can also find people speaking in Tamil, Telgu and English. The local people of Karnataka are called Kanndaigas .The language has evolved from Kadamba script, and it also got influenced by Sanskrit, as it went through several modifications since its date of origin, in early 10th century BC.

    The population compromises of people from various casts and communities, as it is the I.T hub of the country people from various parts of the country have settled in this city. Whit them they have also brought variety of Indian cuisines which give a wide range of selection to the locals and the tourists as well.
