  • The way Indian batsmen batted in this test match, it seems there was a lack of match practice for them specially the way Mukund got out in both the innings by playing a rash shot.

All the hypes before the test match between India and England were went true, yet India lost this test match. England were on the top in most of the session but there was a session on the fourth day of the test match were India came to the top with the superb bowling of Ishant Sharma which put up England in a difficult situation 107/6. Suddenly a U turn came in and a heroic batting performance from Mat Prior took the game away from India and put England in a situation from where they could not lose the game.

When this test match started all eyes are on only one man Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar ,everyone was waiting for his 100th international century, but in the end he was only able to make 34, 12 in first and second inning respectively. He is not the only one who haven’t scored century at lords Gavaskar, Miandad, Lara, Ponting, Gilchrist, Sangakkarra and Kallis were the ones in this list. Sachin was also not even able to cross his highest score at Lords which was 37. Some how Ravi Shastri’s commentary did not go well the character of Sachin’s play. When he was on 34, Ravi Shahstri mentioned that Master Blaster was just a boundary away from his highest score at Lords and the very next ball, he lost his wicket to Broad.

This test match had some superb performance and amongst all of them, Kevin Peterson had hit a splendid double hundred to take his team to a total from where they can challenge the strong Indian batting line up. Praveen Kumar also bowled well in the first inning and it was a great achievement for him to take 5 wickets at Lords, he was swinging the ball in a great deal, had he been just 5-10 kmph faster it would have been a herculean task to play him.

There were lots of injuries in Indian camp. In the absence of Sehwag India were not able to put pressure on the England by their batting at any time, also the injury to zaheer was a big loss, he was bowling well in the first inning, he took wickets of both the openers in the first inning and if India had have him fit in the second innings, things would surely be different in this test match.

The way Indian batsmen batted in this test match, it seems there was a lack of match practice for them specially the way Mukund got out in both the innings by playing a rash shot. But there are no excuses to it, the bottom line is this they have not lost the Numero Uno title and I am sure they will come back strongly in the next match and would save their title. I hope that injured player would be fit soon and if they are not they should play eleven 100% fit players.

There are some positives that have come out for India from this test match, Praveen and Ishant’s bowling. Dravid and Raina’s batting, especially Raina has proved that he has skills to play under pressure and can perform in pressure situation.
