    Dev Anand, ‘Dharam Dev Pishori Anand’, The “Guide” of Indian Cinema who took the entertainment industry to its epitome by his acting skills and poise left the world of charisma at the age of 88 today as he suffered from the cardiac arrest.

    ‘Har Firkra Ko Dhuein Mein Udata hua’, the Jewel Thief stole away the hearts of the populace. His famous style of delivering the dialogues in a fast pace and nodding while giving the dialogues was his trademark. Dev Sahab’s movies not only gave a taste of entertainment but also gave certain educating messages related to the social issues.

    Born on September 26, 1923, Anand Sahab was a native of Punjab and started his career with just Rs. 200 in the Military Censor Office Churchgate Mumbai and made his debut as an actor in the movie ‘Hum Ek Hain’ in 1946.

    With blockbusters such as Guide, Vidya, Jeet, Do Sitare, Sanam, Aandhiyaan, Nau Do Gyarah, Aawara and Bombai Ka Babu, Dev Anand proved the talent of his acting with his co- actresses namely Suraiyaa. Nutan and Waheeda Rehman.

    He got his first Filmfare award for best actor for the film ‘Kala Pani’ released in 1958.
    Along with the masters of reel life such as Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand ruled the the Bollywood empire in late 50’s and 60’s.

    He shared a great friendship with Guru Dutt Sahab, another versatile legendry actor of the Indian Cinema and both decided to help each other through out their career.

    He made his directorial debut in the industry from the flick , ‘Prem Pujar’ although it was a flop but he never stopped and continued his effort with ‘hare Rama Hare Krishna’ staring Zeenat Aman and Mumtaaz in Tere Mere Sapne. Dev Anand has an image of ‘Ever Green’ star among his co- actresses namely Parveen Babi, Rakhee, Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman.

    Dev Anad has also been politically active. He actively participated in the campaign against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi against Internal Emergency, along with his supporters in Indian Parliamentary elections in 1997.

    Dev Sahab has directed 19 films and produced 31 films out of which seven directorial endeavor and 18 films were a super duper hit at the Box Office.

    Legendry Music director’s such as Shankar- Jaikishen , O.P Nayyar, Kalyan ji- Anand Ji, Sachin Dev Burman and Rahul Dev Burman gave music in his films which was adored and praised by the audience and even till now the tracks are creating the inferno.
    In the year 2007 his own autobiography was released and his movie ‘Hum Dono’ was digitzed and colorized and released.

    Dev Anand got the honor of Padam Bhushan Award in the year 2001, Dada Sahab Phalke Award in the year 2010 and also backed international honors like “Star of the Millenium” in the Silicon Valley, California in the year 2000 and was honored at the hands of the then First Lady Of the United States Of America, Hillary Rodham Clinton for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema’ in the year 2000.

    The ‘Evergreen Romantic Superstar’ of the Indian Cinema will always remain as a Guiding star and motivation for the upcoming talents in the entertainment industry. Dev Sahab will live in the crimson island of his millions of fans forever.
