Unidentified persons throw acid on bar-singer's face in Mumbai

A female singer in a bar sustained burn injuries after two unidentified motorcycle borne persons threw acid at her while she was travelling in an auto rickshaw in Dharavi today, police said.

According to police, the 25-year-old victim, whose name was not revealed was on her way home in Chembur in an auto-rickshaw from Bandra.

At around 1.30AM, as her auto was moving on PMG road in Dharavi, one of the two persons riding on a bike threw acid at her, causing burn injuries to her face and hands, said Hemant Patil, senior inspector at Dharavi police station.

"The victim works in a bar in Bandra as a singer. It is not yet clear as to who had threw the acid. The accused are still at large," he added.

The auto-rickshaw driver also sustained minor injuries, police said.

The victim is undergoing treatment in civic-run Bhabha hospital, police said adding further probe was on.
